Favourite Things Friday # 25

Hello Friday! Apologies for missing Wednesday's post, a lot of my time has been devoted to a certain something I'll be talking about in the near(ish) future, and this week sort of flew by in  a blur of work and spreadsheet making. Exciting stuff I know. On with the show:

Ghost Brooch by Clairey Lou Creations
How freekin' cute is this little dude? Claire has a bunch of equally adorable creations in her shop. I love them all, but my other spooky-adorable favourite is the tooth brooch!

Zig Zag Print Two Piece Dress by I'm Your Present
Love. This. It's ridiculously rad and versatile, and I'm all about mix and match pieces.

"Hiding The Eggs" Original Illustration by Marmee Craft
How gorgeous is this watercolour illustration?

Addams Family Stickers by BantamBB
Such cool illustrations in this shop. I want 'em all!

This may just be my favourite thing ever. Talk about guts! I've been kicked out of freekin' Goodwill for doing the same thing, can you imagine pulling this in Ralph Lauren?!

Happy Friday!

The Back Roads

I can't believe I'm only getting around to this now, but I wanted to share some photos from a weekend back in June that was spent driving around a lot. This actually gives you a pretty good idea of the area where I lived in my mid-late teens. Gorgeous, though I never appreciated it while living there. Figures.

Remind me to clean the van windows next time, yikes.

Favourite Things Friday #24

Minnie Glasses via Moorea Seal
These remind me so much of a pair my mum used to wear back in the 80s. Unfortunately they're too small for me... maybe the Minnie Glasses will be my quick fix haha

Oh my word, how rad is this? I couldn't dig it more if I tried!

A much needed friendly reminder.

I Put a Spell On You Tote by loll3 via society6
I actually squealed a little when I saw this! Not only because it's amazing (and I love everything by Lorenza) but also because of the last thing on this week's roundup (definitely saving the best for last this week):

The magic happens around 2:15
I have developed a massive music crush on a certain fellow by the name of Jesse Kinch, who is one seriously talented guy. I wanted to share this in last week's roundup but couldn't find a video of it at the time. Basically, my grandpa was watching Rising Star, and I was going about making dinner for us both. I was popping in and out of the room and thus far was not terribly impressed by anything (albeit I wasn't paying attention). I watched a few seconds of Jesse's intro, noted the good vibe I got from his laid back attitude and thought he was probably a pretty cool guy, definitely different, went to check the stove, then literally sprinted back into the livingroom as soon as I heard him start singing. My gosh, can that boy sing.
I had goosebumps, no word of a lie. I loved the song choice since Screamin' Jay is a personal favourite of mine (a forefather of shock rock? Heck yes, count me in!) and I love how it became his own. I think he's an amazing performer, an infuriatingly good vocalist (I have been jealous of only a handful of male vocalists in my life, and he is now top of the list.) and has fantastic stage presence, which I find extremely important. It can be much more difficult to have an audience connection when you're performing without moving around, but I was pretty mesmerized from the second he opened his mouth.
Immediately following the show, I went Googling like a mad woman and found his youtube channel. And I've got to say, I'm even impressed by the less refined covers he did when he was younger. And I adore his originals. I can't even explain what draws me in, besides the heavy classic rock influence. There's just this amazing energy in him, this raw, real sound. It's a little bit mind blowing quite frankly. Especially to find so much talent in someone so young.
Lend me some of that talent Jesse, you've definitely got loads to spare (pretty please?).
Whoops! That got a little out of hand. Not my usual blurb, but hey, how could you not go on about something like that?
Happy Independence Day!

After being computerless for four days, I am now resuming regularly scheduled service a day late. I can say with complete honesty that, much like this long-weekend (Happy belated Canada Day Canucks!), June came and went without me acknowledging its existence. I know I worked, and blogged, and accomplished some of my June goals, but I still feel like the month didn't even happen. The passing of time keeps blindsiding me. I wake up and suddenly an entire month has passed me by and I have no idea where my days went. Thankfully, I have this little hobbit-hole of the internet to remind me that I really did get through 30 days and do quite a bit in them.

In June I:
Made a kitchen wishlist
Made something old new again
Reviewed a a rad hoodie

Found an adorable craft

Wore another pretty dress

Made a set of goals for July!
All of my June posts can be found here!

The month ahead is going to be full of me trying to stay afloat in the ocean of projects I've set out to get through. It will also be about staying inspired and motivated, and taking care of myself - something I neglect far too often. I am going to be taking part in Gala Darling's Radical Self Love July challenge on Instagram as part of my self love journey. It might sound silly, but sometimes I need a reminder to focus on things I enjoy, things that inspire me and make me happy, and positivity instead of negative vibes. I used to wallow in negativity constantly, and I don't want to be that person anymore. Over the summer I will hopefully be finding out whether a certain tentative plan is going to come to fruition, one that I'm really excited about, but more on that when the time is right. For now, I'm accepting all the good vibes you're willing to send, and I'll be sending them out double time. Wish me luck and don't be shy, join up for #radicalselflovejuly!
(I'm a poet and I didn't even know it)
